While all street races are against the law, some are more special than others and we're here to talk about what happens when drivers turn to such a battle in an attempt to deal with the GNeration gap.
To be more specific, we are talking about a drag race between a Challenger Hellcat and a 1987 Buick Regal Grand National. That's right, somebody ripped these two pages out of the muscle car book and threw them right into the street, at night.

In theory, the Hellcat is miles ahead of the GN. While the contemporary Mopar machine uses its 707 hp to complete the quarter mile in the low 11s range (on street tires), the Grand National relies on a turbocharged V6 delivering 245 hp. The slice of GM could complete the quarter mile in the low 14s area back in the day.ener

However, one of the aspects that allowed the Grand National to be as shocking as it was had to do with its modification-friendly nature. It didn't take aficionados long to figure out what low-cost mods were required to bring the Grand National into the 13s arena.

Since we are talking about the world of street racing here, you can never trust the official specs, with the standard appearance of the cars sometimes having nothing to do with the goodies hidden in the engine compartment.

For one thing, the Hellcat seen here has been gifted with a nitrous shot. Still, the driver decided not to use the power enhancer, so that it could give the Buick a fair chance.

After all, this battle is more about the punches delivered along the way than what the referees have to say at the end.

Speaking of discipline, the police zooms in on the racers, taking action towards the end of the footage. We don't even want to know how the discussion went from that point on.
