Frankly, anybody having to choose between a 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 and a 991 Porsche 911 GT3 RS would face one hell of a decision. And, if those rear-engined Neunelfer would be dressed in the two shades of grey we have here, things would only get more difficult.
In the case of the Gen 2 GT3, the rear-engined delight is dressed in Chalk, a hue that serves as a brilliant alternative to the Fashion Grey color of the Rennsport model.

Note that both GT Division animals pack similar options and we're talking about the bits of the Porsches that can be customised. To be more precise, both the revised GT3 and the PDK-gifted GT3 RS feature black wheels concealing yellow calipers, with the latter signaling the presence of PCCB (Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes) hardware. And the same goes for the black inner graphics of the headlights.
Nevertheless, as we mentioned in the intro, the fight between the two goes way beyond their hues.
Let's talk Nurburgring times, for instance. This is where the 991.2 mid-cycle refresh truly shows its face, with the GT3 one-upping the GT3 RS by a noticeable margin.
To be more precise, while the Rennsport Neunelfer is a 7:20 car, the GT3 needs 7:12.7 to go round the infamous German circuit.
Of course, not all of us spend their days on the track and we have to mention that the GT3 RS is in a different league than the GT3, be it a 991.1 or a 991.2, when it comes to the feedback received by those fortunate enough to occupy the driver's seat.
It's worth mentioning that the GT3 RS also comes in limited numbers, while the GT3 packs different assets, such as the practicality boost delivered by the Touring Package.
At the end of the day, these two Porschas could easily share a garage.
