CGI: Peugeot 209

We do know that Peugeot 209 is an enigma for all of us, but what we have here are actually two computer-generated images (CGI) showing this future model of the French manufacturer. Unfortunately, there are no technical or any other sort of details available but we can easily notice the similarities between this model and the SR1 concept to be displayed by Peugeot at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March.

The SR1 represents Peugeot's new path in the automotive sector, but only in terms of design, as the company is willing to adopt new styling elements and abandon old and extraordinary boring styling components seen on most Peugeots.

“SR1 concept car is proof of this. It embodies the strongest, the most extreme and the most pure expression of the Peugeot Style of tomorrow," Peugeot said in a statement some time ago when presenting the concept.

As you can see for yourself, the CGI is indeed based on the SR1 concept and the rendered 209 borrows some elements from it, including the new headlight design, the front grille and the two triangular air intakes integrated into the front bumper. The rear side of the car is adopting a new styling as well, with a larger rear window and bigger taillights.

Overall, the two-door model looks much sportier than the current Peugeots, so expect the sportiness to continue at the interior as well.

Peugeot 209 is expected to represent the next iteration of the popular 207 model. However, more details are likely to emerge this year or in the near future as Peugeot will most likely choose the 2010 Paris Motor Show or the 2011 Geneva to showcase the car.
