CGI: 2011 Renault Megane CC

Just like one would expect after seeing a new Megane range rolled out, a CC version is also in the works, although the French manufacturer hasn't talked too much about it. The car will boast the same front fascia as the Megane Hatchback but will obviously come with a reworked back end and retractable top.

The adjacent CGIs, only meant to give us an idea on how the model will look like, are based right on these suppositions and show a model built on the hatchback but boasting a different roof and rear side.

If we are to trust the rumors, the car will probably rely on the same engine lineup as the hatchback version which is currently offered with either gasoline or diesel engines. There are five diesel powertrains across the range, alongside three gasoline units.

The top-of-the-range version is the 2.0-liter TCe configuration that releases 180 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 2,250 rpm. This means the car is pushed from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, all the way to a maximum speed of 139.8 mph (225 km/h). Fuel consumption is 23.1 mpg (10.2 L/100Km) city and 38.5 mpg (6.1 L/100Km) highway.

The current Megane CC was rolled out in 2006 and is available with a choice of six engines, three diesels and three petrols. Even if it included several new engines, as compared to the previous model, the top option is still the 2.0-liter 16V turbo which develops 165 horsepower, a maximum speed of 136.7 mph and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 8.7 seconds.
