Toyota’s boss Akio Toyoda will race for the third time in the Nurburgring 24-hour endurance race later this month.
Mr. Toyoda is known for his passion for motorsport and this will be his third year to enter the 24-hour Nurburgring race, along with other three Toyota drivers. He also raced there in 2007 and 2009 when he was the company’s vice-president. Being the big boss now, he explains that he is not racing just for fun, but more to evaluate the company’s product.
"It's not merely a private activity. This is part of the company's effort to produce good cars by judging the performance of our production under such severe conditions." said a Toyota spokesman in an AFP report.
Last time Mr. Toyoda raced a Lexus LFA at Nurburgring in 2009, his team finished on the 87th place out of 170. We are eager to see what they will bring this time to the track. A Toyota GT 86 maybe?
