Caterham Seven Supersport Ready for the Road

From the race track, right onto the road... It's been nearly two years since the iconic Seven received a new model in the range, but Caterham's latest product, the Supersport, promises to make up for all that waiting. Now available for sale at dealerships across the UK, the Seven Supersport will sell for GBP19,995 complete with all the looks and mechanics one would want from his Seven. The model is propelled by a 1.6l Ford Sigma engine, which coupled to a five-speed transmission with sprint ratio gearing makes the Supersport develop 140 bhp. That might not seem like much, but keep in mind that the Seven weighs in only at 520 kg. The low weight allows the engine to propel the model from naught to sixty in 4.9 seconds and allow it to top at 120 mph (193 km/h). “We’ve built faster and more powerful accelerating cars before, but the Supersport’s character, value and low running costs have generated a machine that will excite sportscar fans, including those on a budget,” said Mark Edward, Caterham Cars engineering director.
