Australian manufacturer Catavolt has been preset in the TTXGP races for some time now, testing their new ideas in the field of electric motorcycles against the competitors' machines, and trying to see what more is needed for a successful production street bike.
Just like other manufacturers, such as Brammo, eCRP, Zero or Lightning, Catavolt (nice name, by the way) has been working on a street-legal version of their racing bike. It looks like the new production motorcycle is ready and will be marketed under the codename S6.
Catavolt S6 sports a 20 kW engine mounted in the rear wheel, but customers also have the possibility to ask for a 40kW one. The estimated range Catavolt announced so far is around 80 km (just under 50 miles) at highway speed and almost double for more laid back city rides.
A 4-hour charging time is really neat and the estimated 3000 cycles seem pretty decent for this 250cc class-compliant ride. The expected price is around €14,330 ($18,735) so no surprise here. We're looking forward to see it battle the rest on the dedicated markets.
