Castrol Toyota GR Supra GT-Four Rendering Harks Back to the WRC Celica

The 1990 World Rally Championship is pretty special for Toyota and Carlos Sainz. The Spanish rally driver took his first title back then, and so did Toyota with the help of the Toyota Celica GT-Four ST165 with the legendary livery from Castrol.

During its time in the World Rally Championship, the ST165 won 13 rounds before being replaced by the ST185 and ST205. GT-Four is Toyota for full-time AWD, featuring a central differential with a locking mechanism. Combined with the 3S Twin-Cam 16 Turbo engine, the Celica GT-Four was pretty rad for its time.

Graphic designer and automotive artists Yoga Budi Widiantoro took inspiration from the road-legal and rally variants to create one of the coolest Supra renderings we came across lately, namely the “Toyota Gazoo Racing Castrol Supra GT-Four.” The digital makeover starts off with a higher ground clearance, mud flaps, dive planes, Hella auxiliary lamps bolted onto the hood, and a ginormous light bar on the vehicle’s roof.

Light yet sturdy wheels from OZ Racing, off-road rubber on all four corners from Michelin, minuscule door-mounted side mirrors, two additional air intakes or cooling ducts, and a big wing pretty much complete the rally-themed rendering. It’s hard to tell what’s going on at the rear of the vehicle, but those taillights aren’t stock.

As you’d expect, decals galore and include the likes of Castrol, Toyota, the Gazoo Racing performance division, Denso, Bilstein, OMP, Recaro, and Tom’s Racing. As to what would hide under the hood of this car, your guess is as good as mine.

The GR Supra offers two engine options for the 2021 model year, a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder. All-wheel-drive isn’t on the menu nor does Toyota offer a six-speed manual as an alternative to the ZF 8HP automatic.

If the GR Supra were to enter the WRC in 2022, then it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the two-door coupe were electrified. To the point, the WRC will allowa supplementary hybrid systemdesigned to run in all-electric mode in urban areas while offering a power boost on special stages.
