Casey Stoner Rumored to Attend the Circuit of the Americas MotoGP Round

I am definitely not sure whether this is some kind of Italian April Fools’ humor or the plain facts are just like that, but nevertheless here it goes. Two-time MotoGP World Champion Casey Stoner is rumored to be the guest of honor at the upcoming round in Austin, Texas at the Circuit of the Americas.

Now, after seeing Stoner fleeing from the last year’s race at his “own” Phillip Island, it’s hard to tell whether he will put up with all the fuss of flying from Australia to the US. After being inducted in the MotoGP Legends Hall of Fame At Phillip Island, Casey Stoner rode a lap of honor with Mick Doohan, but did not attend the race, as most of us expected.

Retired at the end of the 2012 season after a successful year with Repsol Honda, Stoner continued racing in the Australian V8 supercars series, but recently put an end to that, too. Though the paddock winds whispered that he might be looking forward to a quiet, sabbatical year, if he turns up in Austin, we’re sure the rumor mill will have a lot of work to do.

This is even more interesting as the contracts of many riders reach an end in 2014, Lorenzo, Rossi, Marquez and Pedrosa only being the biggest names on the rider’s market. Watch this space for more on Casey Stoner, and prepare for the 11-13 April round in Texas. So far Marquez leads the ranking with 25 points, followed by Rossi with 20, Pedrosa 16, Aleix Espagaro 13 and Andrea Divizioso with 11.
