We’ve got the windscreen wipers turned up to the max and yet we have no chance of clearing the blinding sun off the windshield. Yes, in spite of all the light, it’s pouring down with rain, so we have the excellent conditions to put the 2013 Porsche Cayman S to the test.
All the water on the road makes it easier for the Cayman to show its balance. There’s a slight aroma of understeer, just to let us know we’re about to enter the free roam area. We go past this, but only just and here is where you find the Cayman’s secret garden of neutral handling.

We are literally one inch away from a serious dose of oversteer, but the walkie-talkie comes alive in the door fascia: “Everybody follow me, we’re pulling over in five hundred meters!”.

We’re taking part in the Porsche Roadshow 2013, so the Cayman we’re sitting in is part of a 22-car convoy which also includes models like the Cayenne Turbo S and multiple incarnations of the 911.

As we come to a stop, it’s time to leave the mid-engined pleasures of the 2013 Cayman behind and jump into a Cayenne GTS. Hello good friend, what have you been up to since we last met?

Driving many models back to back teaches one quite a lot of new lessons. It’s entertaining to feel how the 550 hp Cayenne Turbo S is, in fact, more gentle than the aforementioned 325 hp Cayman S.

The experience was part of a launch event for a new luxury dealership, Porsche Pipera, which serves the Porsche, Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini brands. Being located in Bucharest, Romania, this EUR15 million ($19.6M) display of horsepower and exquisite leather is the largest such facility in South Eastern Europe.

However, we've been driving with the top down in the 911 Cabriolet and now we have to go change our soaking wet clothes. This means that we’ll give you the full details of the drive in an upcoming story. Don't worry though, it included a lot of dry roads too.

You can read about the complete adventure here.
