OK, now that’s a mouthful and a bit of an eyesore. So, let’s start with basics. It looks like an Alfa did when grandpa had hair, it’s made by a coachbuilder named Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera and it’s called the 2012 Disco Volante, which means flying saucer in Italian.
We guess that explains the lack of wheels. But even that is not a novelty in the automotive world, because it the way Citroen showed the DS, as a rocket ship.
This Italian poser is inspired by the lines of the Alfa Romeo C52 Disco Volante and will bow at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Hopefully, by then it will have wheels and tires, because its mix of carbon fiber and aluminum bodywork sound positively brilliant.
It’s supposedly powered by the 4.6-liter V8 engine of the Alfa Romeo 8C and has 450 “cavalli di potenza”. Sorry, we got carried away!
