Five years ago, German Mercedes-Benz tuning specialist, Carlsson, launched what is called the C25 Super GT model. Times have moved on and they too have to go with the flow and end the production of this iconic model. Therefore, a special edition was bound to be built.
And here it is. Just before the Geneva Motor Show opens its gates, Carlsson allows us to take a sneak peek at what the C25 Super GT Final Edition looks like and what it brings to the table.

According to the company, the entire body of this car will be made of carbon fiber, which sounds enticing enough but in actuality might not be as cool as you think. Maintaining this thing in one piece could be a challenge few are up to.

Either way, the advantages are rather obvious: 160 kg (353 lbs) were shed off the waist of the Merc thanks to this innovation alone, compared to the stock SL-Class R230 it is based on.

Other esthetic changes include a new set of headlights and new taillights as well as new windows all around, that are unique to this model.

Technical bits

Under the bonnet lies a 450 HP V8 tuned by the German company but, in case that isn’t enough to tickle your fancy, for the Final Edition Super GT, Carlsson is also offering an optional 753 HP V12 plant.

Of course, such a vast amount of power needs some bigger brakes as well and you can either stick with the stock ones or go for the optional carbon-ceramic composite ones. On the handling side of things, you’ll be getting the C-Tronic suspension that can be adjusted via an iPhone app while a new stainless steel exhaust will feature large billet aluminum tailpipes.

Unfortunately, if you like this car, you should hurry up and put an order in, as the tuner claims that only 25 will be made and only in countries that were part of Carlsson’s C25 USP.

“Our aim was to develop a Super GT that would be a strong statement of exclusivity, as at home on fast cross country roads or the autobahn as on the daily commute to the office,” said Markus Schuster, Carlsson’s Managing Director.

Well, with a V12 753 HP engine under the bonnet, we can’t really argue...
