German tuners obsessed with the three-pointed star have been pretty busy this summer, especial since Mercedes-Benz haven't been slacking either when it comes to launching new models in the last few months.
Carlsson, for example, has just released a complete tuning program for the new W222 S-Class. The exterior modifications include an aerodynamic styling kit which starts with a new front apron with larger air intakes and a Carlsson RS lip.
On the side we can check out a set of new side skirts, while the rear spoiler now has a trapezoidal cut-out on each side to make room for the similarly-styled Carlsson sports exhaust.
There are three different light alloy wheel designs available, with diameters of 19, 20 and 21 inch – the Carlsson 1/10, 1/16 RS and the 1/5 – with the car also getting the Carlsson C-tronic suspension lowering kit in the following months.
The interior can be had in almost any variety of materials, with an assortment of wood, carbon fiber, leather and Alcantara being available - as expected from any self-respecting German tuner.
Engine wise, only the non-hybrid gasoline ones have been touched by the Carlsson engineers, with the S 500's 4.7-liter V8 engine getting its output increased from 455 hp and 700 Nm (516 lb ft) to an AMG-beating 610 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque.
Speaking of AMG, the S 63-model in Carlsson-guise no longer develops 585 hp and 900 Nm (664 lb ft) of torque but a mighty 780 hp and an electronically-limited 1050 Nm (774 lb ft). A bit under what Brabus has achieved, but it's still supercar-territory.
