Carlo Cudicini Injured in Motorcycle Crash

Premiership goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini is currently hospitalized after being severely injured in a motorcycle accident which took place in East London. Cudicini, 36, collided with a Ford Fiesta while riding his BMW motorbike yesterday morning. He was air-lifted to hospital by London Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) and his condition is yet to be determined.

The Italian goalkeeper, who currently plays for Tottenham Hotspur, was the only one injured in the crash, as the woman and the child inside the Fiesta were not harmed.

Cudicini’s condition, however, rests under the question mark. It appears the fact that he has fractured his wrists and also his pelvis in the accident could put an end to his career, several inside sources from the police told the AFP. Surrounding roads were closed in the area after the incident, which is currently being investigated by the Chadwell Heath collision investigation unit.

The Tottenham Hotspur football club has released the following statement: “Carlo Cudicini has fractured his wrists and injured his pelvis after being involved in a road accident this morning. The 36-year-old Italian goalkeeper has been admitted to hospital and undergone scans under the supervision of club medical staff.”

Before arriving to the Tottenham Hotspur in January 2009, Cudicini has played for Chelsea for about ten years. The Chelsea Football Club also sends their best wishes for a full recovery to Cudicini through its website.

The Italian goalkeeper is the son of former AC Milan goalkeeper Fabio Cudicini and grandson of Ponziana Trieste defender Guglielmo Cudicini. Before moving to the UK, he has played for several renowned Italian club teams, such as AC Milan and Lazio.
