Carlex Design have done it again. If we're being honest, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class needs no introduction. It also doesn't need anybody to vouch for its off-road capabilities, as it is one of the few living legends in terms of driving over rough terrain.
That didn't stop Carlex Design from taking a 1990 Mercedes-Benz G-Class and stitching a few acres worth of leather to its interior components. All this in the name of off-road, of course.

But we shouldn't blame it on Carlex Design alone, as this car also has an owner and he must have had a pretty heavy word about the outcome of the project - after all, it's him who'll be doing all the driving afterwards.

To quote from Carlex Design themselves, the owner is a "dedicated traveler and a man curious about the world," a description which would explain very well why he went for a Mercedes-Benz G-Class in the first place.

Since the car itself isn't exactly new, the guys at Carlex Design decided to go for a vintage interior look and, my God, they've definitely nailed it. The G-Wagon looks like it was trimmed during Nefertiti's time with leather taken from the eldest Nile crocodiles they could find. It appears as though it was used non-stop since then by a large family of heavy smokers who - for some reasons - like to dress in extremely abrasive clothes. If "old" is what they went for, they outdid themselves.

When eventually they did run out of crocodile skins, they used a different fabric for the headliner: a brown velvet-like nubuck.

According to Carlex, the interior "will leave a lasting impression on everyone who sees it" (agreed) and also "highlights the off-road origin of the G-Class" (uhmm, not so sure about that one). They base this statement on the fact that it's got map pouches in he most important parts of the interior. Alright, you've convinced us.
