What kind of people would enter the glorious cabin of the 2014 Mercedes S-Class and say “hmm... this is a bit too mainstream”? The answer comes from Poland, where interior specialist Carlex Design has completely redone the interior of an S-Class.
Earlier in the year, Carlex teased us on its S-Class interior upgrades and now the company has given us a set of renderings, showing us just how deep they want to go with the transformation.

No, you are not mistaking, that is 24k gold splashed around the cabin. Carlex used the precious metal for the air vents, Mercedes-Benz emblem on the dashboard, speaker covers, as well as for the various controls and handles. As you can imagine, the gold theme continues in the back.

As far as the leather is concerned, Carlex has gone beyond Mercedes’ already extensive approach, also using the material for the entire floor area. The aftermarket developer came up with a multi-color scheme, including Beige (also with a pattern), Brown and Black. That last hue is used for Crocodile leather, the icing on this cake of materials.

In these renderings Carlex pictures their S-Class interior in white light, as if this was coming from one or more flashes. Still, we can’t help but imagine this multitude of colors and materials in the various hues offered by the ambient lighting in the S-Class.

Oh and the luggage compartment will most likely receive some attention too. In fact, while the stock cabin of the S-Class is more than enough, we’d like to see the boot receive a special treatment. We are referring especially to the pair of buttons that lock and close the lid, which aren’t up to the car’s status. It would be interesting to see Carlex being asked to go past their usual approach. A request to trim the optional refrigerator is an example as good as any.
