Carjackers Steal Vehicle with Child Inside, Take Him to School After

Let’s face it, humans are all born good people, it’s the lemons that life gives that sometimes forces them to make bad decisions. A wrong call was what two car thieves made recently, when they discovered there was a slight setback with their plans to steal a car.

An 8-year-old boy was sitting in the backseat of his mother’s car when he suddenly found himself being chauffeured to school by two strangers. After realizing that they had an extra passenger, the thieves turned the car around and asked him where he went to school, police said, according to Inside Edition. The boy told them and, of course, they dropped him in front of his elementary school in Norfolk, Virginia.

How is that normal? Well, apparently the kid was used to hanging out in the car for about 20 to 30 minutes before he’d go to school every day. His mom normally starts work earlier than his school so she’d take him with her to work every weekday, ask him to wait in the car until the time was right, and only then take him to school.

That’s why the car was running, the keys were in the ignition, and the radio was on - a perfect target for someone to steal. The same question you are most likely asking now - why not bring the boy inside? - is what officers are wondering too, who now consider pressing charges against the mother.

Fortunately, the child was unharmed, and the thieves would later abandon the car three miles away from the school. Bad guys with a big heart? Perhaps. Or maybe they felt the mother would need the car to keep taking her son to school more than they needed it for a joyride.

“When we got there, he was just sitting in his homeroom class like nothing had happened,” Police Cpl. Melinda Ray told the source. “He thought his mother had just arranged for someone else to take him to school. But when learned what had happened, he was quite frightened.”
