After successfully crowd funding their Indiegogo campaign late last year, one of the most popular drones currently under development is now taking another step in making carbon fiber birds become more than just looking cool. The ultra-light Bionic Bird is now about to adopt a third channel for remote tail control, allowing more stunts and super slow flights.
Before we get into the specifics, let us remind you that the Bionic Bird is an ultra-light drone weighing only 9 grams that is able to go for 10 flights lasting up to 8 minutes each with only one 12-minute battery charge. The ground-breaking micro technology contains many exclusive patents owing to the intense research behind its creation. Other than its great design, according to its creators the Bionic Bird is the only flying object that doesn’t frighten birds away, thus blending in perfectly.
However, due to its indestructible foam body and replaceable carbon fiber tail and wing structure, the drone won’t be in any harm when facing predators such as an eagle or even a cat. Like we said, Bionic Bird is currently available online. Meanwhile, its creators are looking into new ways of upgrading it.
According to their plans, by winter 2016, it will integrate an HD video camera with live feed to smartphone, mechanical and hydraulic camera stabilization and WiFi protocol for broadband transfer.
