Carbon Fiber Bicycle Is Inspired by the Famous Stealth Fighter

64 Nighthawks were built, 59 of which were production versions while the other five acted as demonstrators or prototypes. In the pop culture, people still find the single-seat, twin-engine stealth attack aircraft as one of the coolest fighters ever to fly the skies. Formally named the F-117, it was the first operational airplane to be designed around stealth technology. To be honest, having ground transportation inspired by it almost comes naturally.

With an extremely secretive start that dates in 1980s, the Stealth was widely promoted for its role in the Gulf War of 1991. The ground-attack aircraft took part in the conflict in Yugoslavia where one was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. It was the only one to have that destiny, and we’re sure the US Force was quite careful to keep things that way considering each one of this bad boys costs about $111 million.

OK, let’s hit the brake for a second since we’re sure we got a little bit overwhelmed with the actual airplane.

The bicycle that was inspired by it is called B-9 NH Black Edition Urban Stealth. We’re looking at a handmade single speed bike that features a carbon fiber frame and fork, one piece carbon stem-handlebar and the BME in-house special saddle.

According to the folks making them, BME Design, the limited to 100 units bike was built to withstand “the abuse of the harsh reality of the urban development."

In other words, it’s not just about the looks, it’s also the touch. The feel, the toughness, excellent functionality and high performance. In terms of price, things remain quite hefty considering one is priced at EUR 7,800 ($8,759).
