Carbon E7 Purpose Built Police Car Goes on Sale in 2012

Seeing as all the vehicles that law enforcement agencies used today are retail passenger cars that were never designed for heavy-duty law enforcement usage, Carbon Motors took it upon themselves to build the Carbon E7, the only a purpose built police car in the world. The result of this endevour will be available for Government agencies in 2012, the year the car will become available for sale.

As we reported last October, the E7 is built from scrap to be used as police vehicles, so shortcomings that came from the fitting of Ford Crown Victoria are eliminated. The vehicle has a rear-wheel-drive and uses a unique aluminum unibody architecture The Carbon E7 is the same length as the Charger (200 inches), but rides on a longer wheelbase (122 inches) and a much wider track (66.9 inches front and rear). The car is powered by a 3.0l turbodiesel V8 engine.

The E7's turbodiesel engine puts out 300 hp and 420 pound-feet of torque using a six-speed automatic to drive the rear wheels. Carbon says it will hit 100 km/hour in 6.5 and top at a speed of 250 km/hour. Combined city/highway fuel consumption will be 28-30 mpg (12-13l/100 km).

Carbon E7 uses 14-inch vented discs in front and 13-inch vented discs in back to help brake the monster. The vehicle has 18-by-8-inch steel wheels shoed with 245/50R18 rubbers.

The dashboard allows seamless integration of whatever computer hardware and software a law enforcement agency might require. In addition, a full partition between the front and rear seats reduces contact with arrested suspects. A drainplug in the floor allows you to hose out the backseat as necessary after off-loading the occupants.

Carbon Motors wants to be a new homeland security company that will produce the world’s first purpose-built law enforcement patrol vehicle. Their focus is to provide first responders with a high-performance, cost-effective law enforcement vehicles.
