Brembo, one of the biggest names in breaking systems have teamed up with Italian watch maker Mecchanice Veloce to produce the limited edition Quattro Valvole Carbon Ceramico (CCM) watch.

This special edition of automotive-inspired watches took four years of studies and resulted in the first wristwatch in the world made of the same material that is used for the brake discs of racing cars. It made its debut at the Baselworld 2009, the International Fair for Watches and Jewelry.

According to Mecchanice Veloce’s representatives, the watch has been entirely manufactured in Italy, in limited numbers. Its case is made of Composite Ceramic, using a waterjet Italian Technology of 5,000 bar, resulting in a lightweight construction, resistant to corrosion and deformation due to external causes.

Special grinders were used to work on the finishes and seals were made of a special interchangeable rubber. What makes this watch rare and justifies its price is the particular structure of the material that allows only few pieces to be manufactured each month and only seven pieces to be obtained from one Brembo disc.

Regarding the technicalities of the Quattro Valvole, we can tell you it has four Swiss automatic and independent mechanical movements ETA 2671. The crowns are made of hand-polished titanium and the straps are made of the same material used to coat the crown of racing cars’ wheels and can be replaced by a second strap of black alligator skin.

The CCM comes in four different colors, such as red, yellow, black and silver, emulating those of Brembo’s original brake calipers and according to luxist.com, its price is about $15,000 a piece.
