Before we start talking about the Tumbler, lets just admit that we are the biggest fans of the new Batman movies. The last two are probably the best thing to happen to the franchise in a long time, as the rough feel and realism of the villains is almost too good to be true. Thus, The Dark Night Rises can’t get here soon enough, but until that happens next year, we’ll have to play the teaser and leaked info game.
We already know that Bruce Wayne has swapped his “old” Murcielago for a brand new silver Aventador running on Gotham plates, but what about his crime-fighting alter-ego? The military-spec vehicle that does away with silly bat wings at the back but manages to keep the rocket propulsion is making a comeback.
Yes folks, we are talking about the Tumbler, a convoy of which has been spotted in the city of Pittsburgh, sporting military desert camouflage. We have two videos to show you, one from YouTube user DoctaM3, who filmed the convoy of urban assault vehicles, and the other from Subaruwrxfan, who got some close-ups of the Tumbler that was parked on the streets. The movie producers have done an awesome job here, as the vehicles sound just like military tanks do while idling, all that’s missing is some flames out the back and we’d be happy to watch nothing else in the movie.
We’ll remind you that the Tumbler was designed by Lucius Fox as a bridging vehicle for the military. It’s got machineguns and rockets, but can also jump buildings. The fact that each has the original color of the Tumbler as depicted during the test drive scenes in Batman Begins, and rumors of scenes where it’s dropped from a plane indicate this is actually a military vehicle. Might Bruce’s weapons be turned against him? We don’t know, but the caped crusader has an answer for everything.
The ‘new’ batman has taken the mystical Ra’s al Ghul in the first movie and the Joker in the second, he will have to do battle with Bane (played by Tom Hardy) and Catwoman (presumably the lovely and leggy Anne Hathaway) in The Dark Night Rises.
