Columbus, Ohio will become the 12th car2go market in North America starting with October 26, 2013. A fleet of no less than 250 car2go edition smart fortwo cars will be available for car sharing in the metropolitan Columbus area for 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The car2go shared use system of car rental will complement COTA and CoGo services by pairing a car2go trip with Columbus' bus system and bike sharing service.

“car2go is an exciting addition to our transportation portfolio,” said Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman. “When paired with taxis, COTA buses, and CoGo Bike Share, our residents will be able to travel between local destinations without the need to own a personal vehicle.”

A wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, car2go is one of the fastest car sharing programs globally, with almost half a million members worldwide and is the market leader when it comes to point-to-point car sharing. Registration for the Columbus area membership opens today at columbus.car2go.com.
