Car Town Social Media Game Brings IndyCar and Indy 500 to Facebook Users

Social media games have become more and more popular these days, causing many developers to look for delivering a richer experience to game players. So is the case with Cie Games who announced that, starting today, Car Town is adding some extra features that Facebook users can enjoy.

Specifically, Car Town players can now have heir own garage filled with IZOD IndyCar Series race cars by selecting real-life IZOD IndyCar Series drivers, building the car and competing within the “Indy 500 Challenge” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Players can also practice their pit maneuvers and race against the clock in the “Indy Pit Stop Challenge.” The launch coincides with the third race in the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series, the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, set for April 17, and offers the availability of cars from 13 IZOD IndyCar Series drivers, including Dario Franchitti, Marco Andretti, and Graham Rahal.

The 2011 Indianapolis 500 Event Car, which honors the 100th anniversary of the first Indy 500, is also included. Additional in-game feature are scheduled for release throughout the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season.

“We’re very excited about this association and the opportunity to present our cars, drivers and the Indianapolis 500 to fans through this popular interactive application,”
said Kasey Coler, INDYCAR director of marketing. “INDYCAR racing gives the Car Town players an opportunity to experience the fun and excitement of owning and driving an IndyCar and an opportunity to be part the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500.”

Launched in August 2010, Car Town has so far attracted 8 million players on Facebook, with 46% of the gamers playing at least once every three days.
