The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department confirms for KMOV that 25 cars were broken into during the show, which took place at The Dome at America’s Center. Without a doubt, the thieves acted on cue, since the largest number of targeted vehicles weren’t parked in areas with higher security.

According to the media outlet, visitors at the convention are urged to park at garages and parking sports marked with a round blue sign with the letter “P” inside. “These are known as preferred parking locations which meet a higher security standard. Parking lots that provide event parking are required to have an attendant on duty throughout the event and for an hour after it ends,” KMOV says.

One woman who had been at the show with her sister tells KMOV that she walked out to find 2 of her car windows smashed and her purse missing. The thief had also taken her sister’s bag, which had her dancing shoes inside, but that one was found abandoned hours later.

“I felt completely violated, I was scared out of my mind. It was just me and my younger sister. I was really scared to drive home with no window in the back,” the woman, who chose to be identified solely as Heather, explains.

One of the rules for Taylor’s show at The Dome was that fans weren’t allowed to bring purses inside – a necessary security measure since the Manchester attack during Ariana Grande’s show. It was only natural then that they left them behind in the car, which is something the thieves must have known. Police say the loot was considerable, including wallets, purses, various personal items and one handgun.
