With the rising number of drivers using dashcams at all times in traffic, we also get an increasing number of videos showing fatal collisions, funny incidents, road rage altercations and, more often than we’d like, real tragedies.
The video at the bottom of the page doesn’t fall in any of these categories. However, it does come close to a tragedy – had it not been for what can only be described as a load of sheer good luck.

It all went down in Moscow, Russia, at the end of last month. The footage shows a fuel tanker rolling down the highway and a Russian sedan overtaking it on the right lane. As the car with the dashcam approaches the tanker on the left lane, the other car, the sedan, slides in the tanker’s lane and enters in direct collision with it.

Even if you’re not faint of heart, this video could make you grab harder onto the arms of your chair. As the sedan slides in front of the tanker, it T-bones it and is sent into the side railing. The impact is so powerful that the car is sent back into the side of the turck, which continues to roll as if nothing had happened.

It’s only by a fraction that the small sedan misses the other car behind it. A woman is driving the latter and a baby can be heard crying.

The car that caused the collision ends up in the middle of the highway, miraculously not as damaged as you would think it would be. The tanker continues to roll and it’s unclear if the driver ever stopped to check on the damage he had inadvertently participated in causing.

The video is making the rounds right now without further context. Still, it could serve as warning on the danger of switching lanes too abruptly or not due paying attention to the road.
