Car 2 Animated Cast of Characters Gets a Little Weird

Professor ZTomberSiddeley
With the June 24th theater launch of Cars 2 still some months away, the cast of animated characters continues to grow and grow. This week it has been announced that Lightning McQueen and the other lovable automobiles we already know from the first installment of the successful franchise will be joined by some odd new ones.

The first one isn’t a car at all, but a state-of-the-art supersonic British twin-engine spy jet. His name is Siddeley and he was partnered up with Finn McMissile, so don’t expect this to be a bog-standard airplane. We don’t know what advanced weaponry he hides under that aerodynamic fuselage, but from all the war movies we’ve seen, we can tell you that those are four machine guns coming out of his wings.

Next up is Tomber, a Reliant Robin voiced by Michael Michelis. His name means ‘to fall’ in French, which is fitting for a three-wheeler known for its... unusual handling in the corners.

“Tomber is a dubious little French car with an unusual, and very unstable, three-wheeled design that befits the meaning of his name – to fall. By trade he deals car parts from a stall in a Parisian market-though his questionable merchandise sources have led to his reluctant acquaintance with British secret agent Finn McMissile,” says the official description from Pixar themselves.

The last new character introduced is Professor Z, aka "The Professor", who "is an internationally wanted weapons designer in a small, sophisticated German package.” He is an evil scientist that wants to sabotage the World Grand Prix. Expect evil laugh and diabolical plan for world domination to come as standard features.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
