Capirossi Signs With Suzuki for Another Year

After we hinted at it in the past, the experienced Italian Moto GP rider has confirmed signing a contract extension with Suzuki. This means the Italian will enter the competition for the fourth consecutive season with the Rizla Suzuki team.

The news comes after Suzuki have confirmed Alvaro Bautista for the 2010 MotoGP season. The news supports Suzuki's strategy to develop the bike with a veteran like Loris Capirossi and places him in the spotlight as a mentor for the Spanish rookie.

"I've done it because I'm still having a lot of fun, and because I've found a fantastic team, headed by a team manager who knows how to keep it united. I like Paul Denning, he's a cool guy. I really feel well here", said Capirossi for the Motosprint.

Loris also revealed he wanted to wait and see if he was really desired by Suzuki before signing an extension. At his age he is thinking about racing for a goal, being useful, not just ocupy a spot on the grid. He also said that if he is in good shape he will consider remaining in the sport even beyond 2010.

"Suzuki has wanted me to sign the contract many weeks ago already. I chose to wait because I wanted to be certain regarding their intentions. Now I know they are putting a lot of effort in, they are giving me confidence, they've decided I should be the one developing the bike", declared Capirossi.

The Italian ended with a positive attitude, saying "they believe in me, and that's what's important. This has convinced me to stay. I'm convinced we'll have a competitive bike in 2010".
