Did you know that the roller skate is a younger invention than the first car? Yes, believe it or not, the first working steam-powered vehicle was designed - and most likely built - by Ferdinand Verbiest, a Flemish member of a Jesuit mission in China around 1672. Whereas the first patented roller skate was introduced in 1760 by Belgian inventor John Joseph Merlin.
Sure, the first model was not more than an ice skate with wheels where the blade goes, something we’d call in line today. Still, for some reason we felt like the roller skaters go way back in time. Well, there you go, another record our beloved four-wheeler wins. Nevertheless, this time around we’re here to discuss a different issue, one that relates to the fun side of wheel spin.

So here’s what we have. There’s this young Asian girl wearing a pair of speed skates who’s about to conquer the world. Until she does that, however, it appears the gifted skater has decided to break some record that involves cars. It seems she was invited at this Chinese version of America’s Got Talent show where she managed to have everybody’s jaws drop.

The quality of the video may not be the best in town, but you can clearly observe how the girl roller skates under a long line of shiny new Ford Edges. Now, she may not break any records, considering that boundary is set at 39 cars, but she sure was close. Speaking of records, we just recalled of Shemika Charles, the 22-year-old professional dancer who has broken the record by limbo dancing under a car.

Since, for some reason, we find ourselves talking about roller skate records, we may as well mention that the longest distance covered by a person who was wearing a pair is 8,596 km (5,341.3 mi) achieved by Peter Bögelein (Germany). According to Guinness World Records, Bögelein departed Würzburg, Germany on 1 June 1986 and returned to Würzburg on 16 September 1986.
