Can You Believe This Track Racer Is a KTM RC8?

Well folks, believe it or not, you’re staring at a KTM RC8. While some diehard purist Katoomers will definitely call this bike pure blasphemy, I kind of like this machine more than I expected. What’s even cooler is that this is a barn-build, so to speak, manufactured by a rider upon a 4-year-old original iteration emanating from one of the Kiska designers.

In fact, this a 1:1 version of the Bikenstein RC8 created years ago by Craig Dent, one of the designers at Kiska, the guys responsible for all the evil looks of the Orange Terror bikes. The RC8 Bikenstein was a response to the creation of Martin P, an ex-KTM, ex-BMW and at that time Honda designer, who drew the initial Bikenstein, coining the new category and starting some sort of an “imagination battle”.

Craig Dent’s reply was based on the most savage bike KTM was building at that time, the RC8. He used the stock RC8 frame and engine, with SMR wheels and plenty of other elements which sported a mixture of RC8 and flat tracker DNA.

While the “batlle” was a virtual one, seeing a rider actually building an RC8-based Bikenstein is tenfold cooler, and I guess Kiska should send this fellow more than the t-shirt it offered to the authors of coolest bike designs. And how about someone building a transformation kit for the RC8? I guess there are enough KTM fans who also love the retro vibe of such a mean machine…
