Can a Turbo VW Bora VR6 Keep Up with a Supercharged BMW E92 M3?

One really interesting video surfaced on Youtube these days, showing a turbocharged Volkswagen Bora VR6 being compared to a BMW E92 M3 Supercharged by G-Power.

What is more than surprising is not that the two are pitted against each other. Heck, all sorts of stupid drag races have been posted on Youtube before...

What does make a long lasting impression though is how the Bora keeps up and, to be honest, even seems faster than the BMW at times. Could this really be possible? Of course but, unfortunately, we don't know the exact specs of the two.

The BMW M3 could have anything between 520 and 740 HP judging by the options offered by G-Power on their website. Their superchargers can take the output levels of the S65 engine up to dizzying heights. And understandably so, after all, we're dealing with a 4-liter V8 here that can rev up to 8,250 RPM, a feat few plants can brag with especially today, in this forced induction era.

However, judging by how fast the car accelerates in this video, we're guessing we're dealing with the 600 HP version here, with an adjacent 565 Nm of torque, numbers way better than the 420 HP and 400 Nm of the stock model.

On the other hand, the Bora seems to be pushing around 500 HP at the very least here considering how fast it accelerates.

Sure, the VW also has the edge in terms of grip as the VR6 came with all-wheel drive as standard. That can be seen in the 0-60 km/h sprint that happens in one second inside the Bora.

However, we'd like to know exactly what setup this little monster uses as the stock 2.8-liter V6 plant used to make around 200 HP and 270 Nm of torque. With its under 1.5-ton weight, this Bora used to be a pretty fast cat back in the day. This one isn't doing too shabby either!
