Many things can be said about the Porsche 911 Turbo. For one thing, this is one of the favorite children of the tuning world, so seeing a 900 Hp Turbo such as the one in the video below isn’t something all that unusual. Sure, 900 horses sounds like a devilish spec, but just how fast can such a Neunelfer can go in a straight line?
Given this 911 Turbo has more power and less weight than a 918 Spyder, the stakes are high. And the benchmark seems just right - a Bugatti Veyron.
Both these cars were born out of family line ambitions. The 911, with or without the forced feeding, has five decades of ancestors to remember. Then there’s the Veyron, which uses a W16 engine as a personal ambition of the now-departed VW Group Chairman Ferdinand Piech - the man’s grandfather had built a supercharged 16-cylinder engine for racing.
The Veyron and the seriously tuned 911 battled it out during an event called Vmax 200, which took place in the UK earlier this month. The race saw the two fighting on a 2-mile runway, but this also included the space destined for braking, so we’re probably looking at 1.5 miles of acceleration action.
As for the details of the duel, we won’t spoil the fun by mentioning these here. Especially since the action is anything but straightforward.
PS: as a bonus, the Veyron also races other go-fast machines, such as a Lamborghini Aventador.

The race wasn't exactly simple
