Campos, Williams Will Vote Aganist 14th Entry

Williams F1 Team will not be the only outfit not backing the International Automobile Federation's (FIA) idea of a 14th entry in the 2010 Formula One Championship. Following the sellout of the Swiss team by the German manufacturer last month (to Qadbak company) – which happened after the 2010 entry list has been confirmed – the ruling body said it will try to secure the new team an extra entry for the 2010 grid.

However, it has now emerged that one of the newly entrants – namely Campos Grand Prix – also doesn't agree with the 14th entry. According to the Swiss newspaper Blick, the Spanish outfit will seek for further information from the FIA regarding the matter, but will not vote for the idea within the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA).

In order for the FIA to approve a 28-car grid, the ruling body needs to have the go-ahead from FOTA. Both Campos and Williams are, as of last month, part of the teams' alliance, therefore they can stop this idea from its early beginning. Unless the FOTA has unanimity in voting for a certain idea, the FIA cannot implement it.

Earlier this month, it has emerged that Ferrari and McLaren would support BMW's 14th entry for the upcoming season, along with the majority of the F1 teams. However, unless they'll all agree on the idea, the FOTA will have no power to safeguard the Hinwil based outfit.

In the meantime, BMW's motorsport director revealed that he will ask for further clarifications from the FIA, in order for the team to make the necessary plans for their 2010 campaign (if any).

We will ask the FIA to give us clarity as soon as possible. We can only negotiate with sponsors, partners and drivers, if our place is certain,” said Theissen after the Japanese GP.
