Campos Denies Team Sellout, Admits Need for Sponsors

The latest reports on Campos Grand Prix haven't been too encouraging for the Spanish organization. It emerged that the team doesn't have enough money to start their Formula One campaign in 2010, and the likeliest prospect for Campos was to sell out his team to an independent investor.

While the name of Tony Teixeira – also boss of the A1 GP World Cup of Motorsport – made the headlines in recent days with his potential bid for buying a part of the team, Campos admitted that discussions are currently taking place not only with the South African businessman, but with other investors as well.

“People speak about Teixeira, but we are (also) talking to others,” said Adrian Campos, as reported by the GMM news agency.

However, Campos wanted to make one thing clear prior to the start of the 2010 season preparations. Amid rumors that Serbian outfit Stefan Grand Prix are linked with buying Campos' entry in the 2010 Formula One championship, Campos insisted that he will never sell out 50 percent or more of his outfit.

“I don't want to sell my part of the team and I will remain the team principal – the condition to be a shareholder is to accept all the existing contracts. We are looking for investors and sponsors but the project is very much alive,” added the Spanish boss.

A recent report from the BBC – broadcaster of Formula One action within the UK – suggested that the 2010 car developed by Campos Grand Prix will make its official on-track debut in mid-February, during the 3rd testing session of the off-season.
