The 2010 Chicago Auto Show will see Jeep bringing back the Camp Jeep, a challenging indoor off-road driving experience.
A 25,000 square foot exhibit within the show will serve as a testing ground for members of the public who are willing to test on- and off-road capabilities of the Jeep vehicles.
"We have created this unique auto show opportunity to provide our customers with a memorable experience that no other manufacturer can offer," said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "The iconic Jeep brand offers an adventurous lifestyle and vehicles that deliver legendary 4x4 capability. Attendees will enjoy the Jeep experience first-hand on the show floor beginning this weekend."
Participating cars will have to overcome multiple obstacles which simulate the rough terrain which represents a natural environment for Jeep cars. This offers potential customers a chance to see what the notions like “ground clearance”, “traction”, “stability”, “articulation” and “suspension” mean in Jeep’s acceptance.
Attendees will be taken for a ride around the course in the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Grand Cherokee and Liberty models. The most interesting challenges will be a 18-foot mobile mountain, and a 2 x 15-foot section of terrain simulating fallen logs measuring 18 inches in diameter. Each ride takes about 5 minutes to complete.
The Camp Jeep was originally introduced at the New York Auto Show in 2004 and it has been a part of multiple auto shows ever since. Over 500,000 people have experienced it until now.
