A few weeks ago, we showed you some footage of all-new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7, with full camouflage, in the car selection screen of Sony’s Gran Turismo 5. Well, it turns out that it wasn`t just for show, and GT5 players can now download the prototype, as a DLC, and they can drive it around to their hearts’ desire.
The information was officially announced at the 2012 Los Angeles International Auto Show, along with additional information about the car, and why it was included in the driving simulator. Also, as far as we know, this is the first time this has been done, and we must admit that Chevrolet have chosen an excellent hype-building tool, to whet the appetites of car guys around the world, as well as potential future customers.
The official GM statement said that "careful attention was paid to the tiniest details from the creases and wrinkles in the soft camouflage used to disguise the new design to specific driving characteristics that are currently being tuned and refined ahead of the vehicle’s official debut."
Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Global Marketing said that “until now, only the most skilled drivers on the Corvette team have been authorized to push the test prototypes to the limits on some of the most challenging track surfaces in the world [. . .] Through this unique collaboration with Gran Turismo, Chevrolet is able, for the first time, to give performance car enthusiasts access to such an exclusive driving experience.”
