The new BMW X6 was fully unveiled a while back and the audience is already divided between the usual ‘love it’ or ‘hate it’ categories, with a slight majority for the latter. However, we didn’t actually see one in the flesh, completely camo free until now.
Introducing the M50d, live from the Nurburgring. Our friends over at Touriclips managed to snatch a short video of the upcoming uber-diesel X6, testing its wheels off on the Ring. Needless to say, we had to share with you guys.

As you can see, compared to the ‘normal’ models, the ones without the abundance of M badges all around, this version looks a bit more aggressive. The front bumper is where most of the differences are observable, with big air intakes to the sides and twin blades for guiding the air through.

The mirror covers are done in the usual grey we’ve been getting used to on M Performance automobiles, while the wheels seem to be completely black, a nice change of color from the usual grey we’ve been getting tired of. Round the back a slightly modified rear bumper with twin tailpipes lets us know this car doesn’t have a 2-liter engine under the bonnet.

No, it’s actually the world’s most powerful 3-liter diesel, with a traditional BMW inline-6 configuration. Thanks to no less than 3 turbochargers, the N57S unit is now making 381 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque, plenty even for this two ton monster.

Thanks to the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, the car is capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.2 seconds also thanks to the 8-speed automatic gearbox and the Launch Control feature that comes with it.

Fortunately, European enthusiasts will be able to order one of these from the get go. In the US though, customers will be limited to the xDrive35i and xDrive50i models at first. Prices are yet to be disclosed.
