Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition Unleashed

The muscle car culture is back for good and all the joys that come from it are also here. We are talking about things like an official replica of the Chevrolet Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car - a limited edition of the future collectible vehicle will be released by General Motors.

"We set out to build a collectible vehicle that will appeal to the die-hard Camaro and Indianapolis 500 fan,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet Marketing. “We believe we’ve done just that with the 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition.

The street Pace Car is based on the top of the range version of the Camaro, the SS, but comes with additional features, some of which are borrowed from the actual race Pace Car. To be more specific, the vehicle is powered by a 400 hp 6.2 liter V8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and rides on 20 inch polished aluminum rims.

The Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition uses full body white pearl decal rally stripes, an Inferno Orange heritage front grille, an inferno Orange engine cover and shows the 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logos on its front fenders. The passengers get bespoke floor mats and special 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logos.

GM will build up to 200 units of the car and will sell each vehicle for a price of $41,950. The special vehicles will be present in 187 dealerships throughout the U.S.

The 2010 Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition is the fourth Chevrolet Camaro pace car replica, following those created in 1969,1982 and 1993.
