Callaway C16 Convertible Drops at the New York Auto Show

Looks like some new goodies from Callaway Cars are coming our way, to be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. We are talking about the new C16 Convertible, a performance car based on the Chevrolet Corvette platform, but with a twist of extra sportiness courtesy of Callaway. The American tuning company, equipped their Corvette based convertible with a 6.0 liter V8 engine which can develop about 560 horsepower. For an extra boost in power, the C16 can receive the Performance Package, which brings the car to 616 horsepower and 789 Nm, that can be reached at 4,750 rpm.

All this power can be used to take the C16 Convertible from 0 to 100 km in just 3.5 seconds and the developers estimate a top speed of over 320 km/h (200 mph). Of course, this data is valid for optimal road and weather conditions, and 100 km in just 3.5 seconds can be reached only in the hands of skilled drivers, depending on the transmission.

Three transmission options are available for the Callaway C16 Convertible, two of them being manual, both 6 speed, but one having shorter ratios in the first four gears. The automatic one has 6 speeds, just like the manual, but has paddle shift. You know that a vehicle requires some serious braking power to come to a full stop from over 300 km/h, but the C16 has that area covered thanks to the Stoptech brake system (6 piston front and 4 piston rear calipers).

The package wouldn't be complete without some nice wheels, maybe some super-lightweight Callaway Dymag wheels, 19 inch in the front and 20 inch in the rear. You could get all of this for less than USD 130,000 but not before the car's unveiling in the New York International Auto Show.
