We are writing about a fleet of over 580 Dodge Charger Pursuit police sedans, which will be used to replace the aging cars in the fleet. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has two years to complete the delivery of this particular order, but most of them will get assigned to officers in 2017. Expect to see these Dodge Charger Pursuit Police Sedans across The Golden State.

Dodge did not forget to mention that its Charger police saloons in Pursuit configuration are the top-selling, pursuit-rated, police sedans in the USA. The deal with the California Highway Patrol is significant because it is the largest state police agency of the United States of America.

Most of the Dodge Charger Pursuit Police vehicles will be powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which provides 292 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine version has an EPA-estimated 26 mpg fuel economy in highway conditions.

Naturally, police officers have more important things to do than focus on hypermiling, but the California Highway Patrol still had to pick among vehicles that comply with specific fuel economy standards.

The rest of the fleet of Dodge Charger Pursuit police vehicles will be fitted with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine, complete with Fuel Saver Technology. The engine provides 370 HP, and its makers claim it comes with best-in-class acceleration performance and horsepower.

Sadly for police officers looking for something even faster, no Hellcat Pursuit Chargers will be made. However, officers can still dream, right?

Some of the sedans ordered by the California Highway Patrol have been configured with the massive 12.1-inch touchscreen with the Uconnect multimedia system. It comes with a segment-exclusive integration of law enforcement computer system, so there is no need for an extra monitor in these cars.

The first Charger Pursuit vehicles will enter service near the end of this calendar year. Local law enforcement agencies can “piggyback” the contract and purchase their Charger Pursuit Police vehicles with the same specifications and price.
