Bruce Jenner may be a woman now going by the name of Caitlyn, but the past is not yet ready to stay in the past. Months before the 1976 Olympic decathlon champion would start his transition, a tragic accident found Jenner’s SUV rear-ending a Lexus and causing a chain-reaction crash that killed a woman.
The dramatic incident happened last February, as Jenner was hauling a luxury SUV on a trailer behind his Cadillac Escalade when he steered to avoid cars slowing for a traffic light in front of him on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. The step-father of Kim Kardashian was unable to stop in time thus rear-ending two cars, pushing the Lexus into oncoming traffic and also hitting a Toyota Prius. Tragically, 69-year-old Kim Howe, who was driving the Lexus, was killed when a Hummer struck her car head-on.

At first, it was believed the former Olympian - who is now a woman - was innocent. A later video taken by a Maryland Transit Authority bus reportedly showed how Bruce struck both cars and that the Lexus driver never made contact with the hybrid Toyota driving in front of him, how it was initially believed.

With this news, it seems like trouble is still right around the corner. According to Yahoo News, the case will be presented to prosecutors for final review next week. The district attorney’s office will determine what charges the reality television star ultimately faces. However, it would appear that the lack of prior record makes it unlikely for her to face any jail time if prosecutors charge her with vehicular manslaughter.

For those who somehow managed to stay away from the tabloid madness that surrounded Jenner’s transition, we’ll mention that it did stir up the world’s media big time. Up to some point, it's quite understandable.

After all, we are looking at a person who was considered as a hero of the United States of America, back in the day. Besides his impressive results as an Olympian, Jenner also received the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States and was named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year.
