Cadillac SRX Saves Jewel's Life in Firetruck Collision

A Cadillac SRX is not exactly the type of luxurious vehicle we see other celebrities driving, but the $34,430 to $55,850 luxury crossover is now definitely receiving some positive PR for its crash safety from one famous singer. Alaskan singer and songwriter Jewel got involved in a serious car accident at the end of last week, but fortunately both she and her unborn baby managed to escape unharmed.

The 36-year-old artist took to her Twitter page, saying that her Cadillac SRX, which was struck by a volunteer fire truck, kept them safe.

"1 thing I do know is my car saved my & my baby's life. Definitely going 2 get another Cadillac SRX! It absorbed all the damage & kept me safe!" she tweeted.

Immediately after the accident, Jewel was rushed to hospital in her hometown of Stephenville, Texas, the NY Daily News reported.
She received only minor injuries and according to the doctors both her and baby are fine.

"Hey everyone-just got released from the ER & my Dr's office- everything is fine-me & the baby r ok- thanx 4 all your thoughts & prayers," Jewel tweeted on March 11.

"Geez-i didn't really see the accident I was in til the paper yesterday. The fire truck def won." she added later in the day.

The next day, Jewel said on her Twitter page that she was "…Just a little sore and banged up- but feeling so blessed this morning."

The Cadillac SRX has received a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), as it has managed to obtain the “Good” score for front, side, rear and the new rollover crash protection and comes with ESP. The current standard for the rollover impact test requires a vehicle’s roof to be able to withstand 1.5 times its overall weight, but the SRX managed to support 4.14 times its weight.
