GM has issued a recall affecting over 15,000 Cadillac SRX models worldwide, aof which 8,789 are situated in the US. The affected models belong to the 2010 and 2011 model year and were put together between October 26, 2008, and June 23, 2011.
The affected SUV may have an improperly installed transmission shift cable, of which GM was notified via an email saying the SRX had developed unintended vehicle motion while the vehicle was shifted between Park and Drive.
The recall will not require a parts change, since all Dealers will have to do is to check if the cable is properly seated in the transmission cable bracket. This is the fourth recall of the SRX, as the SUV also had faulty side airbags, pre-ignition in turbo models and seatbelt anchors.
