Since the calendar shows we are in 2015, it’s not okay to be amazed when talking about the introduction of a new performance SUV. However, when the rumor mill mentions such a machine coming from Cadillac, consider our eyebrow raised.
It seems Cadillac is working on a go-fast version of the Escalade. We don’t know whether this will be offered under the all-out V moniker or will come as a Vsport offering.
Nevertheless, we can’t worry about that for the moment, simply because we can’t see past the grain of salt that needs to be added here.
You see, the news comes from Jonny Lieberman. While the jorno has delivered precious insights before, he also came up with stuff like the Porsche 992 chassis code, which obviously didn’t happen.
As for the output numbers, the Caddy gets 640 lb-ft and 630 lb-ft, while the ‘Vette allows its driver to play with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of twist. The number will probably go down a bit for the Escalade, but they’ll still be above the 600 milestone. With the eight-speed automatic already being prepared to do the job, Cadillac engineers wouldn’t have reinvent the wheel.
In terms of handlings, the Magnetic Ride Suspension would have to be retuned, while a bespoke wheel and tire combination would complete the road connection job.
We’ll remind you Cadillac is already working on a crossover offensive, but not necessarily the performance kind. We’re talking about the future CT-named crossover family, which will be kickstarted by the CT5 later this year.
Returning to the potential Escalade V/Vsport, the vehicle could arrive in time for the 2016 New York Auto Show.

If this story happens to go though, the motivation will, most likely, come from the supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 that has already thrilled us in the Cadillac CTS-V and Corvette Z06.As for the output numbers, the Caddy gets 640 lb-ft and 630 lb-ft, while the ‘Vette allows its driver to play with 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of twist.
