When it comes to Chinese copycats, the question is not “has it been copied”, but rather “have we found the wannabe yet?”. Sticking with the theme, we are now bringing you Chenggong’s (Shanxi Victory Group) Cadillac Escalade family.
Sure, this is the now-old Escalade, but, to make sure they’ve got all bases covered, the Chinese carmaker has a pair of Escalades. We’ll start with theVictory X1, which aims to take the long Cadillac Escalade EXT’s legacy further. Sure, it does this by using a BMW nameplate and a 2.4-liter Mitsubishi engine, but who’s going to know this 3,025 mm (119 inches)-wheelbase workhorse is fake?

Americans will be surprised by the specs of this pickup truck. Tipping the scales at just 1,645 kg (3,627 lbs), the thing has to make due with 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of twist.

Come to think about it, when all of the above are squeezed inside a sticker price of $11,000, you can’t exactly complain.

The urban solution

Then there’s the SCH6420, which looks like the bastard child of an Escalade and a Toyota RAV4 belonging to the second generation. This time we’re talking about a 2-liter engine delivering 118 hp.

Just like the RAV4, this rides on a compact platform, with a wheelbase of 2,510 mm (98.8 inches). To put it shortly, this is something for the urban driver who wants to live the American dream, perhaps with a touch of rap music. And with the “V” badge on the hood, you can’t miss the Victory flavor.

We’re not sure about the price of the SCH6420, but expect it to sit below the $10,000 mark.

As for the interiors of these Chinese Escalades, just make sure you tint the windows - if anybody sees inside the vehicle, your cover will be blown.
