In 2020 for the 2021 model year, the Escalade will enter the fifth generation with underpinnings from the Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. The full-size SUV is expected to feature three powertrain options in total, and one of them is expected to be electric.
“Sources familiar with future Cadillac product plans” expect more than 400 miles of range from the Escalade EV, which is a possibility if you look at the bigger picture. More to the point, General Motors announced that it’s developing an all-electric pickup truck.

“The electron-driven variant will likely show its face sometime later in the fifth-gen Escalade product lifecycle” according to Cadillac Society, but nevertheless, can you believe the estimated range? Not even Tesla can squeeze out 400 miles from the Model X. The Long Range with the 100-kWh battery is capable of 325 miles according to the Environmental Protection Agency, more than any other CUV or SUV in this segment.

Pricing would be another problem for the Escalade EV. The outgoing model starts at $75,195 excluding destination charge while the Model X kicks off at $84,990 for the Long Range before options and potential savings. There’s no mistaking the Cadillac could easily exceed $100,000 knowing the pricing strategy of General Motors, don’t you think?

The BEV3 electric vehicle platform is another highlight worth detailing, developed by General Motors for a multitude of applications. A crossover from Cadillac will be the first to receive it, featuring three rows of seats and “the height of luxury and innovation” according to chief exec Steve Carlisle.

There are even rumors in regard to the discontinuation of the Camaro, only to be replaced by an all-electric sports car. General Motors isn’t the kind of automaker to talk too much about future products, but as opposed to the Ford Motor Company, GM has more experience in terms of electrification.

Turning our attention to internal combustion, the 2021 Cadillac Escalade is expected to feature a small-block V8 as the standard engine and the 4.2-liter Blackwing V8 as an optional extra. Both powerplants are to be connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
