Unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show, the brand new 2015 ATS Coupe will be Cadillac's first vehicle to feature OnStar 4G LTE connectivity and the CUE Collection of applications. Not exactly news, but the automaker has finally released more info on the coupe's in-vehicle connectivity.
Already confirmed for several Chevrolet models, the OnStar 4G LTE, probably one of the fastest such in-vehicle applications yet, will allow 2015 ATS Coupe drivers and passenger to gain access high-speed, wireless internet through a Wi-Fi hotspot that can accommodate up to seven devices, including smartphones, laptops and tablets.
The built-in connection will also enable consumers to access the new CUE Collection in-car app marketplace and organize and update apps such as iHeartRadio, The Weather Channel, NPR and Slacker Radio. The new CUE system comes with a Text-to-Voice feature for smartphones that can read incoming text messages.
For 2015, Cadillac also offers Siri Eyes Free for iPhone iOS 6 and 7, 12 months of OnStar Directions and Connections and OnStar RemoteLink Key Fob services. The latter will allow owners to lock/unlock doors, activate the horn and lights, and remotely start a vehicle through the OnStar RemoteLink smartphone app.
If you're not planning on getting a 2015 ATS Coupe but want OnStar 4G LTE connectivity and access to the CUE Collection in Cadillac, the company says the aforementioned features will become available to the entire lineup for the 2015 model year in the second half of 2014.
As a brief reminder, GM will also introduce OnStar 4G LTE connectivity on the 2015 model year Chevrolet Corvette, Impala, Malibu and Volt. The technology will also become available on the Equinox, Silverado, Silverado HD, Spark, Spark EV and the Trax (Canada only) at a later date.
