Cadillac CTS-V Sports Wagon Coming to Europe via Geneva

Looking at models like the CTS-V Coupe Race Car or the outlandish Urban Luxury Concept, you start to realize that Cadillac is no-longer a brand for old people to drive from their retirement homes to the shopping mall. Now it appears that the American carmaker wants to bring its aggressively styled cars to the Old Continent. According to a recent press release made by the company, Cadillac will unveil two European premieres at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. One is a brand new production car, ready to conquer the estate car market with a big V8 that’s as powerful as anything the Germans have to offer in the segment, while the other is a concept, meant to showcase what a luxury sedan of the future (the near future) could bring to the table. Fist off, the 2011 CTS-V Sports Wagon will make its official European market debut in Geneva. The car combines the performance of a CTS-V Sport Sedan with the functionality of the CTS Sport Wagon. Long story short, it has a 6.2-liter V8 under the bonnet, which delivers 564 horsepower (415 kW) and is backed by either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. While no pricing information was released, expect the estate to be substantially cheaper than its German competitors when it arrives in Europe in fall. In addition, the carmaker will show the XTS Platinum Concept for the first time in Europe at the Geneva Motor Show 2011. It is powered by a combination of 3.6-liter V6 Direct Injection petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
