Cadillac CTS-V Coupe First Track Test

The latest evolution of the Cadillac CTS, the CTS-V coupe race car, is ready for action after being introduced to the tarmac of a race track on January 17. The test run, with drivers Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim behind the wheel, took place at the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, Fla.

Unfortunately (and, we might add, very unnatural for American manufacturer GM), the performances achieved on the track were not made public (just as it happened when the car was presented, which might mean GM has some extraordinary to hide).

We do know, however, that the model is currently getting ready to get on the starting grid of the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT, which kicks off on March 25 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

“Returning to racing in the SCCA World Challenge is a great way to demonstrate the performance and capability of the CTS-V Coupe. The race cars in this series are production based, which allows us to validate our performance against the best of our competitors on the track, and not just the showroom,”
said Don Butler, vice president for Cadillac.

The CTS-V Coupe was introduced last week at the North American International Auto Show, where it made quite an impression. The model comes equipped with a supercharged 6.2l V8 engine which gives it a herculean 556 horsepower.

Being engineered as a race car, the CTS-V features all those elements that set racers apart from the regular production models. Words like Magnetic Ride Control or Brembo brakes come natural when talking about this model.
