The very special Cadillac CTS-V is getting ready to get a touch of new this spring, as American auto maker GM announced the introduction of the Black Diamond Edition. The new version will feature both performance upgrades and visual ones.
The thing that will set the car apart the most from its regular production version brothers will be the exclusive tri-coat paint called Black Diamond. The paint is, according to GM, the first use of a product coming from optical technology firm JDSU.
The paint, which gives the special edition its name, features SpectraFlair Bright Silver pigment, a feature which makes it, says GM, the perfect choice for the customers who look for special effects to go with the color on their cars.
Other than that, the special edition does not set itself apart much from the regular production version. It features Satin Graphite 19-inch wheels with yellow Brembo brake calipers, Recaro seats with French-stitched leather and microfiber suede inserts and Midnight Sapele wood trim.
“We’ve already established V-Series as a serious sub-brand for Cadillac,” said Rich Pinto, Cadillac creative designer. “Black Diamond further establishes V-Series in the market as a performance-minded line of vehicles with a luxury twist.”
Set to hit the dealerships' floors in March this year, the Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition will sell for $69,190 for the manual transmission version and for $70,490 for the automatic one. That means that GM prices all the additions to the model to $4,850. There is no word on the number of special edition models to be manufactured.
